Posting Summary:
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in the laboratory of Prof. Steven Zeichner, MD, PhD. The incumbent will conduct studies investigating HIV and herpesvirus gene expression, particularly as it relates to the control of virus latency and activation from latency, including molecular mechanisms responsible for the control of gene expression, the interactions between the virus and its host cell, particularly with respect to host cell apoptosos. Additional duties will include writing and preparing manuscripts for scientific publication, participation in lab meetings, teaching other members of the lab, and active collaboration with other researchers.

Candidates must have a MD and/or PhD completed by the start date, publications in peer-reviewed journals and less than three years' postdoctoral experience. The candidate must have demonstrated expertise in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, immunology, and cell culture

The Candidates must work independently and ethically, to document all research data applicable, and publish data in qualified journals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. The candidates should demonstrate potential to be trained as an independent investigator.
