The Office of Animal Welfare is seeking a qualified Compliance Associate. This position monitors compliance of research personnel in the care and use of laboratory animals. The employee must be comfortable working with research animals and interacting with the research community in a positive and supportive way.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Post-approval monitoring of protocols to ensure that the use of animals is in compliance with protocol, federal regulations, and institutional policies and procedures.
Assisting with the training program designed to educate the research community through seminar support, hands-on workshops, and individualized training.
Working closely with the Director, to investigate issues of non-compliance and animal welfare concerns.
Assisting with the semi-annual inspection and program review process.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
--Knowledge of aseptic technique, animal facility operations, and an understanding of common laboratory procedures.
--Ability to read and understand research protocols, regulations, and policies.
--Professional and maintains confidentiality
--Excellent interpersonal skills, diplomatic, tactful, cooperative, and supportive nature
--Ability to maintain work schedule
--Ability to work both independently and as a team member
--Must be detail oriented
--Must possess excellent organizational skills in order to schedule and perform multiple projects simultaneously with changing priorities
--Excellent written and oral communication skills
--Ability to interact effectively with diverse research community including research staff, students, and faculty
