Essential functions of this position:
Manages pest and various landscaping functions for the University. Identifies pest including fungus, insect, disease and weeds. Assist in training of landscape employees in identifying pests on university properties as needed. Development and Implementation of an Integrated Pest Management System for the university.
N.C. Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
High school diploma or equivalency and demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Requires North Carolina Pesticide License.
Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position:
A working knowledge of landscape maintenance and ability to operate large and small equipment
Ability to follow directions and learn new skills while on the job
Leadership in training and communication with crew members
Demonstrate understanding of the mixing and application of pesticides and herbicides and the ability to oversee application by other employees
Certifications or licensure required to perform the essential functions of the position:
Valid NC Drivers’ License
NCDA Turf & Ornamental and Aquatic Licensed or ability to acquire within 90 days of start date
Recruitment Range: $29,335 - $31,000
NC Salary Grade Equivalency: 54
Hours Per Week: 1.0 (40 hours per week)
Months Per Year: 12 Months
Work Days: Monday - Friday
Work Hours: 6:00AM - 3:30PM (may be adjusted for season)
