Assistant Professor - Social Work
SOCIAL WORK/SOCIOLOGY: The Department of Sociology at Hartwick College invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor starting in August 2018, pending final administrative approval. We seek candidates with expertise in Social Work and Sociology. Minimum qualifications include a MSW (New York State licensure required) and a PhD in sociology by the time of the appointment. Specific teaching assignments will include Introduction to Social Work, Introduction to Counseling, Gerontology, courses on the family, Introduction to Sociology, Sociological theory, other social work oriented courses, as well as general education courses, including First Year Seminars. Teaching load will average 20 semester credit hours or their equivalent per academic year, and all faculty members teach during the College’s distinctive four-week January Term. The successful candidate must be committed to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching, active engagement in scholarly or creative activities, and working closely with students in a small college environment. Academic advising and some committee service also are expected with this appointment.
