Assistant Professor of Accounting
Position Summary: The College of Business at Governors State University seeks applications for a tenure-track faculty position in accounting beginning in Fall 2018. The successful candidate will be qualified to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in financial accounting or managerial accounting, with a preference for candidates who may also be able to teach nonprofit and governmental accounting and financial statement analysis. We seek candidates with outstanding teaching skills, interest in advising non-traditional or diverse student populations, evidence of a potential or distinguished record of scholarship consistent with tenure-track expectations, and substantive professional service via projects, committees or other leadership roles. Governors State University is the only regional, public, comprehensive university in Chicago's south suburban area, serving approximately 7,750 students annually. Minimum Qualifications: - PhD or DBA in Accounting or a related area from an AACSB accredited school. ABD will be considered if doctoral degree is completed by position start date. - Ability to write and publish in professional or academic journals. - Ability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in financial and managerial accounting. - Interest in developing and teaching online courses - Applicant must meet AACSB standards for scholarship as aScholarly Academic (SA)a.
Preferred Qualifications: - Record of publishing in academic or professional journals - Professional or managerial experience. - Professional certifications - Experience developing and teaching online (web-based) courses. - Teaching experience in graduate and undergraduate courses in financial and managerial accounting. - Knowledge of AACSB accreditation requirements.
Work Schedule: Nine-month faculty contract; Summer teaching is optional, for additional compensation.
