Coordinator of International Programming, Initiatives and Special Projects (Extended Ed Specialist II)

Position Summary:

Primary Duties of the job include:

	
  • Responsibility for programs and offerings in the Office of Study Abroad and International Exchanges including but not limited to semester and yearlong study abroad programs, international exchange programs, short-term faculty-led travel study programs, and special programs endorsed by the Assistant Vice President of International Affairs;
  • 	
  • Coordination and implementation of all aspects of student and faculty information sessions and pre-departure orientations for all study abroad programs offered by the Office of Study Abroad and International Exchanges. Provides students and faculty with required visa, health, safety information, etc. for study abroad;
  • 	
  • Serves as the primary liaison and coordinator responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of short-term faculty-led travel programs, and is responsible for all activities necessary for the successful planning, implementation, and completion of such programs;

  • Coordination of a broad range of international initiatives developed and offered by the Office of Study Abroad and International Exchange and the Division of Continuing and Global Education;

  • Working with international partner institutions and consortiums to ensure appropriate articulation of courses and continuous academic review as required by University policy;
  • 	
  • To foster and develop institutional partnerships for international programs as directed;
  • 	
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies for international opportunities and programs under the Office of Study Abroad and International Exchanges, including coordination with school/college leadership and Advising Offices to ensure successful campus-wide outreach efforts for study abroad programs;
  • 	
  • Collaborate with Extension Programs marketing staff on communications including social media, website, magazine, and more while providing lead direction on the management of the website and these areas;
  • 	
  • Oversee the coordination, review, editing, and submission of international MOUs and agreements, with direction from the Assistant Vice President of International Affairs;
  • 	
  • Coordinate a wide range of special projects relating to other international extended education programs, including tasks associated with new program conceptual development with faculty, the launch of new international programming, and other projects as directed by the Assistant Vice President of International Affairs;
  • 	
  • Provide lead direction in advising and communicating opportunities for study abroad with students, staff and faculty;
  • 	
  • Maintain working relationships with USAC, CSUIP, and Exchange Partners and provide lead direction on the delivery of advising sessions, processing of applications, process for campus interviews and more;
  • 	
  • Monitor the account balances for International Exchanges and promote to inbound and outbound students the availability of One-On-One/Sister university Exchanges;
  • 	
  • Hire and supervise student assistants and manage staff workload;
  • 	
  • Serve as an administrator for Terra Dotta to manage student applications and oversee the collection of necessary student data, waivers, forms, and more;
  • 	
  • Serve as a member of the Fresno State Foreign Travel Crisis Response Team and activate risk and crisis management procedures for individual programs, students, and faculty when necessary;
  • 	
  • Serve as a point of contact for Fulbright, Boren, and Gilman scholarship programs and provide lead direction on advising and promotion;
  • 	
  • Develop and administer assessment tools from returning study abroad students and recruit returning study abroad students to serve as student advisors, ambassadors, or participants in campus outreach programs;
  • 	
  • Oversee bonding of international travel insurance. Ensure compliance with system and campus policies governing travel insurance.
  • 	
  • Promote a positive and "service oriented" work environment in the Office of Study Abroad and International Exchanges; and
  • 	
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Secondary Duties of the job include:

    	
  • Assist with the preparation of Instructionally Related Activities (IRA) grant applications, and provide coordination for the selection and awarding of IRA and all other Travel Grants as directed by the Manager of Finance and Administration;
  • 	
  • Assist the Director of Development, Assistant Vice President of International Affairs, and Dean with advancement and development of fundraising efforts for international education programs at the University, including student scholarships and endowed professorships;
  • 	
  • Assist with efforts to develop and promote the internationalization of all aspects of the University's curricula and programs;
  • 	
  • Coordination of all incoming international visiting scholars, developing and providing orientation programs, offering visa/immigration assistance in conjunction with the Office of International Student Services and Programs (ISSP), and ensuring ongoing compliance with campus, system, state, and federal policies, regulations, and laws;
  • 	
  • Develop and implement customized training programs for international visitors as requested by college/school Deans, ensuring all programs are self-supporting and operating in compliance with appropriate policies;
  • 	
  • Develop itineraries, coordinate logistics, and perform event management for all incoming international dignitaries, officials, and visitors of the University;
  • 	
  • Work with ISSP on requests for visas from visiting scholars, exchange students and International Summer Program participants;
  • 	
  • Working with the Assistant Vice President of International Affairs, CGE, and ISSP staff, participate in the planning events relevant to the operation (e.g. International Education Week, International Education Commencement Celebration);
  • 	
  • Coordinate programs for visiting delegations from overseas; and
  • 	
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    	
  • Knowledge of appropriate procedures and practices in educational program and curriculum planning utilized in the CSU, and knowledge of the processes required to plan and construct academic programs;
  • 	
  • Ability to:	
      		
    • Determine needs for new or revised programs;

    • Develop course outlines with instructors;

    • Locate instructors and to assist them in understanding and completing contract arrangements;

    • Represent the Division in the international community and to develop effective working relationships;

  • 	
  • A history of regular attendance and positive performance evaluations
  • Education and Experience:

    	
  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college of university
  • 	
  • Equivalent of three years of experience in planning programs and curriculum for higher/extended education, including developing resources, budgets, marketing plans, and serving as a liaison with the community
  • Preferred Skills:

    	
  • Experience working with international education programs
  • 	
  • Experience working in a CSU Extended Education or Division or International Office
  • 	
  • An earned Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • 	
  • Experience bonding international travel insurance
  • 	
  • Experience planning or organizing group travel
