Midwestern State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the Gunn College of Health Sciences and Human Services. The dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of the College and reports to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs. The successful candidate will begin Fall 2018.  Starting date is negotiable.

Midwestern State University, a Texas public university with nearly 6,000 students, is located in Wichita Falls (population 105,000), 120 miles northwest of Dallas near the Oklahoma border.  Midwestern State University is one of 30 members of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC).  The College of Health Sciences and Human Services has 65 full-time faculty and serves approximately 2,294 undergraduate and graduate students.

The College of Health Sciences and Human Services offers students the Bachelor of Science degree with majors in Athletic Training, Criminal Justice, Dental Hygiene, Exercise Physiology, Nursing, Radiologic Sciences, Respiratory Care and Social Work.   In addition, students may earn a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Health Administration, Criminal Justice, Nursing, and Radiologic Sciences.  Additional information may be found at

Applicants must have an earned doctorate, an established record of effective teaching and scholarly activity that warrants appointment as an associate or full Professor in one of the College’s departments. Applicants should have relevant academic administrative and fiscal management experience, experience with accrediting activities, experience with multidiscipline programs, knowledge of trends and issues in higher education, commitment to diversity, integrity, and strong leadership and communication skills.  Duties also include working with the chairs and faculty of the college and teaching up to 3 courses per year. The successful candidate will have the demonstrated ability to work with community and state agencies.  Additionally, the candidate will have a history demonstrating an ability to work with other colleges within a university environment.
