University of the Pacific invites nominations and applications for the Dean for the Eberhardt School of Business. The School seeks an ambitious and inspiring leader to serve as the Dean. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a well-established, AACSB-accredited business school through its next period of growth and innovation.  

University of the Pacific is a nationally ranked university with three distinct campuses united under one common goal of educating and preparing the leaders of tomorrow through intensive academic study, experiential learning, and service to the community. In providing a superior, student-centered learning experience that integrates liberal arts and professional education, students are prepared for lasting achievement and responsible leadership in their careers and communities. The University features nine schools across three campuses, including the iconic main campus in Stockton, California; a Sacramento campus that is home to the McGeorge School of Law and new graduate programs that will serve the vibrant health and government affairs communities; and a San Francisco campus that boasts a striking new building that houses the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry and several new graduate programs. 

The Eberhardt School of Business, founded as the School of Business and Public Administration in 1977, is an AACSB-accredited school. The faculty of 26 full-time and about 6 part-time members is dedicated to providing the highest quality educational opportunities in the following areas: Accounting (B.S., M.Acct.), Business Administration (B.S. – offered in 10 concentrations, M.B.A. – with two concentration tracks), several dual-degree opportunities (such as J.D./M.B.A. and Pharm.D./M.B.A.), as well as minors in Management, Business Administration and Information Systems. The school, currently with approximately 547 undergraduate majors, is distinguished through the cultivation of the leadership skills and innovative spirit of its students, while providing training in state-of-the-art business applications. As a small business school with a global orientation, the Eberhardt School of Business offers a student-centered learning experience in highly interactive classes that encourage close working relationships between students and faculty.

Reporting to the Provost, the Dean will serve as a key member of the University’s senior academic leadership team. Drawing upon the talents of the faculty and existing partnerships within the University, the Dean will lead the school toward greater collaboration and seek creative ways to enhance excellence and student success. In doing so, the Dean will address several opportunities and challenges: Create, support, and execute a modern, distinctive vision for the Eberhardt School of Business; Advocate for and lead the school through graduate program updates at all three campuses; Manage and build the school’s resources and budget; Recruit, retain, and mentor a dedicated and talented faculty. The complexity of this opportunity requires a bold, dynamic, creative, visionary, and accomplished leader with far-reaching experience and entrepreneurial ideas to ensure that the Dean is a key partner in the realization of the goals of Pacific 2020, Pacific 2020 Refresh, in addition to the growth goals of the school.

The Dean of the Eberhardt School of Business will serve as the School’s leader and advocate. The new Dean will be a gifted academic leader and outstanding administrator who will inspire the school to innovate, excel and become a more visible presence not only within the local and state communities, but also on a national scale. The Dean will provide leadership to faculty, over 550 students, and nine staff, as well as overall management of the school’s resources, programs, and services on all three campuses. The Dean will work closely with faculty and administration in planning and provides leadership for the achievement of the school goals aligned with the mission, goals, and vision of the University. The Dean supports the school and University through fundraising, public relations, and communications with University and external stakeholders.  The ideal candidate will have an earned doctorate or terminal degree in his or her field and/or demonstrated exceptional scholarly achievement.
