Job Description


This valued team member will be responsible for the safety, security and proper care of the youth during the assigned shift including orientation, program planning, modeling, youth supervision and general care. All of our team members are expected to demonstrate behaviors and practices of cooperation.


Essential Functions:

Residential Youth Care:

Youth care:
  • Review youth information including Individualized Service Plan (ISP)
  • Orient youth to rules, regulations and schedules
  • Facilitate youth interaction
  • Control the usage of supplies utilized within the unit
  • Coordinate activities and care as indicated by assigned shift
  • Youth safety:
  • Maintain the personal security of the youth
  • Ensure that appropriate behavior is observed
  • Utilize Safe Crisis Management as appropriate
  • Administer an authorized search of person or area
  • Demonstrate leadership through role modeling
  • Provide First Aid as necessary
  • Contact medical department as required
  • Case Management:
  • Report any events requiring further investigation
  • Assist the unit with shift continuity of essential personnel
  • Complete all logs in a timely and thorough manner
  • Prepare youth reports and summaries
  • Secure proper documentation for youth files meeting Federal and State requirements and organizational standards
  • Facilitate communications on youth status with essential personnel
  • Responsibilities in accordance with shift covered:
    • Day shift will:
  • Supervise and support the youth population
  • Ensure the proper nutrition at breakfast and lunch
  • Manage program schedule
  • Participate in shift meetings
    • Evening shift will:
    • Supervise and support the youth population
    • Ensure the proper nutrition at dinner
    • Supervise youth homework
    • Participate in shift meetings
    • Night shift will:
  • Supervise and support the youth population
  • Complete headcount of youth at a maximum of every twelve (12) minutes
  • Safety check youth community room and bathroom
  • Check that all doors are secured
  • Collect, log, sort, clean, fold and return/dispose of laundry
  • Team Leadership:
    • YSS II employees have these additional responsibilities:
  1. New hire orientation
  2. Supply inventory and orders
  3. Unit meetings management

  • Skill in observing and reporting changes in youth behavior
  • Ability to interact with youth demonstrating a positive attitude
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze a situation accurately and responding accordingly
    • Knowledge of 3800 Regulations as they relate to youth documentation
    • Knowledge of HIPPA privacy regulations

    • H.S. Diploma or GED


      ACT 33 & 34 Clearances
    • First Aid/CPR training
    • Fingerprinting clearance
    • Safe Crisis Management training
