Job Summary:

The Senior Network Engineer ensures the security, compliance, reliability and performance of the StrategicHealthSolutions, LLC (Strategic) network that includes infrastructure, hardware, network-related technologies, managing infrastructure vendor performance and providing visionary guidance and oversight to employees and business partners. The Senior Network Engineer researches, recommends, implements, and maintains networks; partners with Security groups to ensure a safe and compliant network; manages network and security tasks, and is primarily responsible for operation, security and overall performance of the Strategic network. The Senior Network Engineer also provides leadership, direction, and oversight in addition to being hands-on to both teach and perform troubleshooting or configuring of network devices used by Strategic.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Oversees and directs the network support activity from Strategic's Information Technology (IT) network support including setting, monitoring, and exceeding applicable service, performance, and capacity measurements
  • Manages the Partners/Vendors that provide Strategic networking and service, participates in related contract negotiations, performance monitoring and compliance
  • Monitors, evaluates, and maintains secured, reliable, well performing networks and environments through the use of tools, procedures and training of Strategic personnel
  • Defines, architects, and supervises the operational effectiveness, security, and strategy of the Strategic internal and external networks
  • Provides leadership and oversight to ensure the reporting of network performance, capacity, and strategic plans to keep the network sufficiently sized and configured to meet the company's current and future needs
  • Conducts or oversees the performance of internal and network penetration testing
  • Provides direction, management, and oversight of vendor maintenance of system protocols, configurations, and backups, including installation and maintenance of all network equipment and software
  • Provides recommendations to meet changing and future business requirements from Strategic and/or the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
  • Assists IT staff and other Strategic employees in diagnosing and resolving complex IT issues
  • Participates in and contributes to the quality management system

    Additional Responsibilities:
  • Partners with Security to ensure compliance to CMS requirements and provides cost-effective solutions to continually meet or exceed Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-53, and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 27001 requirements related to systems communication

    Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; required
  • Five years of network engineering experience with proficiency in network technology
  • One or more Network certifications, such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or equivalent preferred
  • Strong understanding of at least 4 of the following areas:
    • Routers, switches, WAN circuits, access control lists, SANS storage, firewalls, VPN, active directory, backups, physical and virtual file servers, DNS, systems administration, security systems, load balancing, power management, and other network protocols and monitoring tools, and policy administration
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco, HP, Fortigate, network equipment, etc. a plus
  • Experience with phone systems such as VOIP and PBX preferred
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to provide productive oversight of vendors and partners
  • Solid understanding of Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), NIST 800-5X standards, and HIPAA security and privacy regulations preferred
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; and experience conducting a gap analysis preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate work assignments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
