Summary of Job Duties

The Accounts Receivable Accountant is responsible for reconciling all student receivable accounts between the UAConnect system and the general ledger; reconciles daily cashier receipts to general ledger; monitors cash and cash equivalent transactions to ensure that the university complies with federal regulations on reporting such transactions; and provides responses to students, parents, lending institutions and other university offices regarding inquiries about billing statements, financial aid, refunds, account breakdowns, and/or other information requested related to UAConnect transactions.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Experience with the University of Arkansas systems: BASIS, UAConnect, and CashNET


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Knowledge of accounting principals and database management
  • Knowledge of software applications
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and policies of assigned section
  • Knowledge of customer service techniques
  • Employee needs to be able to communicate using clear communication skills which could include but not be limited to the following methods: personal face-to-face contact; using e-mail or other written correspondence; and through telephone contact
  • Ability to comprehend and assimilate technical and business related documents
  • Ability to apply policies and procedures and other applicable regulations associated with assigned department or program
  • Ability to conduct research, perform quantitative quality assurance reviews, and prepare reports
