Job Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics Section of Hospital Medicine has an opening for a full-time APP Instructor/Senior to operate at the Children's Hospital of Colorado and its affiliate clinics, including Vail Valley Medical Center.



Examples of Work Performed:

  • Care for pediatric patients of all age ranges, developmental, nutritional and physiological status in the inpatient setting at various community hospital well newborn nurseries, Children's Hospital Colorado Network of Care locations, as well as the Main Campus in Aurora.
  • This includes a combination of a variety of inpatient and well newborn conditions, working closely with a hospitalist attending.
  • History and physical examinations and determination of treatment plans.
  • Attendance and participation at the monthly staff meeting required.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary for this position is and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • Graduation from an APAP approved Physician Assistant Training Program and certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

OR
  • Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with ability to obtain Prescriptive Authority in the State of Colorado. Will need to qualify for and obtain prescriptive authority within one year of beginning position.
  • APN licensure and Masters from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program,
  • Pediatric Nursing Certification Board certificate or other comparable certification required.

AND
  • Expertise and training in history and physical examinations and determination of treatment plans necessary.

Condition of Employment:

  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all onboarding requirements of various community hospitals, Children's Hospital Colorado Network of Care locations, the Main CHCO Campus in Aurora, as needed.
  • Colorado license, BLS, and PALS will be required prior to start date.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of a variety of common pediatric and adolescent inpatient conditions.
  • Superior customer service, communication, organizational and prioritization, problem solving and collaboration skills are necessary.
  • Expertise and training in history and physical examinations and determination of treatment plans necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5 years of experience in pediatrics.
  • Current CO state prescriptive authority.
  • Inpatient experience and well-newborn experience.
  • Acute care certification.
