Job Summary:

The Wisconsin's pesticide applicator training program provides training and materials to individuals desiring state certification to apply pesticides. This is a mandated program to meet federal and state regulatory certification requirements. This position acts independently as the office and business manager of the Pesticide Applicator Training program. The overall responsibilities of this position include: interaction with individuals seeking state pesticide certification or current applicators; requiring knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to training and certification; providing advice to clients to determine the appropriate pest-control category in which they require certification; working closely with the certification personnel of the state agency regulating pesticide use; management of the program financial accounts; establishing administrative program policies; management of temporary staff; and working independently with general supervision by the Program Manager.

The successful candidate will provide administrative program support to the program by managing the Pesticide Applicator Training Program's office. This includes being an interface with Wisconsin's pesticide applicators and counties in the certification process by answering questions regarding the process and helping in determining the appropriate manual and category of certification. Candidate will determine when it is appropriate to refer individual to trainers or to the Department of Agriculture; respond to inquiries and resolve issues regarding online ordering, fees, registrations, shipment problems, insufficient funds and determine appropriate corrective action. Ensure that the correct manual has been ordered and review registration forms. Ensure and coordinate current shipping rate and integrated package-handling system and ensure accuracy of credit card orders from database information. Candidate will lead, direct, train, and assign work to limited term employees and student help and be responsible for data entry and manage general office supplies. Successful candidate will be involved in the management of program financial accounting and recordkeeping by receiving fees collected from the counties for Private Applicator Training and maintaining and reconciling this process.
