Job Summary/Basic Function: The Department of Counseling, Health, and Kinesiology seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track appointment for an Associate Professor of Guidance and Counseling. The Counseling program is a robust program with an active faculty devoted to teaching and scholarship. The successful candidate will teach graduate classes in the Masters of Arts in Counseling; assist with CACREP accreditation process, including self-study; maintain an active research agenda; supervise master's level students; and fulfill service responsibilities to the Department of Counseling, Health, and Kinesiology and the university, as well as advancing the counseling profession. Candidates will be expected to work in collaboration with other colleagues in the Department of Counseling, Health, and Kinesiology and community partners. Faculty members will be expected to supervise practicum students.

Work Hours: Flexible to suit course schedule. Teaching assignments may include day, night, or weekend classes

Qualifications

Education

Necessary Qualifications: Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision or related field with record of employment as a full-time faculty member in a Counselor Education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013, or otherwise meet CACREP core faculty eligibility requirements.

A minimum of 18 graduate hours in each field in which candidate will teach.

Preferred Qualifications: Graduate of a CACREP accredited doctoral program.

Experience

Necessary Qualifications: Current appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.

Experience working with culturally diverse population.

Minimum of five years of university teaching experience including advising and supervising graduate students.

Direct experience with CACREP accreditation process.

Record of scholarly activity commensurate with rank of Associate Professor.

Minimum of five years of clinical experience in mental health counseling.

Minimum of five years of university teaching experience including advising and supervising graduate students.

Minimum of five years of clinical experience in marriage and family therapy.

Record of scholarly activity commensurate with the rank of Associate Professor.

Experience working with culturally diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications: Clinical Mental Health Program Coordinator experience.

Membership and active participation in Clinical Mental Health Counseling professional organizations. Will also have a strong professional identity as a counselor/counselor educator.

Military related experience.

Other Requirements or Other Factors

Ability to work cooperatively with others and provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and the community.

Preferred
Licensed as a Professional Counselor in Texas.
