Duties and Responsibilities The Communications Specialist independently writes, edits, and proofreads content for the web, print, and other media outlets. The position is responsible for maintaining the Institute's overall web presence and includes creating and editing web sites, pages, and posts. The role combines editorial judgment and knowledge of writing promotional, technical, and informational copy. The Communications Specialist must collaborate and align with the University's Office of Communications and Marketing on all projects, programs and branding initiatives. Applies knowledge of UD design and brand standards to print and digital projects. This position includes various roles, including writer, editor, interviewer, researcher, document production specialist, webmaster, web content contributor, social media contributor, project planner, and client liaison/relationship manager.

Minimum Required Education Bachelor's Degree in a communications or a marketing-related field

Type and Amount of Experience Needed -Knowledge of journalism principles and techniques.-Skill in the use of journalistic and web research methods and techniques.-Skill in the operation of personal computers and other relevant devices.-Proven ability to organize resources and to establish and meet priorities.-Proven ability to communicate clearly in all assigned and relevant media to a diverse community.-Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments without detailed instruction or oversight.-Ability to create communications that are responsive to the needs and mission of the institution.-Proven ability to multitask.-Ability to analyze and solve problems.-Ability to maintain confidentiality.-Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of constituents and media professionals.

Preferred Qualifications Strong writing skills, time management, self-starter and motivated worker.
