Job Summary The Wilbanks Child Endangerment and Sexual Exploitation Clinic (CEASE) at the University of Georgia School of Law is seeking a full-time CEASE Legal Services Associate. The Associate will be expected to represent survivors of child sex abuse in civil litigation and juvenile dependency matters and to supervise law students in these matters. The Associate will work under the supervision of the CEASE Clinic Director. The Associate will serve as attorney of record in clinic cases as assigned by the Director, supervise clinic students' work representing clients, assist with the CEASE Clinic seminar, engage in research as determined by the Director, and assist the Director in building community relationships through outreach, an annual conference, and other clinic initiatives. The Associate is responsible for working together with the Director to ensure the effective management of the CEASE clinic. The Associate must have a JD, 3-5 years of litigation experience, and be barred or eligible to be barred immediately in the State of Georgia. The Associate must possess outstanding trial and lawyering skills, excellent written and oral communication abilities, a successful track record of working effectively with diverse and vulnerable client populations, and a demonstrated commitment to working with under-served populations. The Associate should possess at least three years of relevant indigent representation and/or child advocacy experience, including bench and jury trial experience. Strong organizational and time management skills required, including ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and seek guidance when appropriate. Experience working with survivors of child sex abuse and/or domestic violence and experience supervising and/or teaching law students or young lawyers, including but not limited to the law school clinical context is strongly preferred. Minimum Qualifications J.D. required, 3-5 years experience; Active member in good standing with the Georgia Bar or eligible for immediate bar membership in the State of Georgia.
