Secretary/Typist (Temp PT 25 hrs/wk)

General Summary:
Performs a variety of general secretarial duties for a major campus activity or department.

Work location and additional information:
This is a temporary part-time 25 hours/week position with option for medical benefits at full employee cost.

Hourly Rate: $11.30 / hour

Campus: North Campus

Days and Hours (for hourly position):
Monday - Friday; 8:00 am - 1:00 pm

Job Specifications:
Must be able to communicate effectively and follow written and oral instructions. Able to accurately type, file and record information. Failure to meet deadlines could result in delay.

Education and Experience: High school education or equivalent and some secretarial experience gained through previous job related training or education.

Certifications/Licensures: N/A.

Skill Requirements: Must be able to type 50 WPM and operate various office equipment, including a personal computer and appropriate software packages or equivalent. Requires proficiency in College supported software. Should possess good communication, interpersonal and clerical skills.

Physical Requirements, If Applicable: Must be able to work in a general office environment with the ability to sit for at least 2 hours without interruption. Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and oral instructions.

Job Duties:
1. Prepares reports, correspondence and forms including exams, syllabi, schedules, class materials and minutes of meetings.
2. Screens phone calls; receives and directs visitors; receives, sorts and delivers mail.
3. Establishes and maintains various files, records and logs.
4. Prepares materials for bulk mailings.
5. Responds to inquiries tactfully and courteously and answer questions and provide information in person and by telephone.
6. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
Secondary Duties (If applicable): May be required to take and transcribe oral dictation; record and maintain budgetary information; schedule rooms and facilities; maintain and process payroll forms and records; assign work to work-study students; train newly hired employees; maintain and process orders for supplies, operate switchboard and assist with registration. May require shorthand of 80 WPM.
