Advertised Job Summary
The Applications Scientist, in support of campus research cyberinfrastructure, engages with faculty and students to provide modeling and simulation applications support in specialized research areas such as High Performance Computing, GPU technologies, Data Analytics, and Machine Learning systems; assist in development of operational and strategic plans and procedures; assist in software applications specifications and updates.Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology Systems, business administration or related field and 6 years experience in computer operations or a related field; or equivalency.Preferred Qualifications
A graduate degree in mathematics, computer science or engineering disciplines is preferred, but a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must have advanced knowledge of research cyberinfrastructure systems and issues, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent judgment and discretion in working with sensitive issues, ability to plan, organize, and review the work of technical personnel, ability to establish and maintain working relationships with research faculty, technical staff, vendors, and professional organizations.
