Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The Senior Regional Admissions Representative represents the University of South Carolina to prospective students, as well as their parents, and high school guidance counselors located within the assigned geographic region of New York, which includes extensive travel. The Representative plays a key role in helping the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to recruit, admit, and enroll prospective students. S/he will also assist in the recruitment and training of new and existing alumni volunteers. The Representative must be physically based in the geographic area s/he manages; preferred location is Fairfield County, CT, or NYC surrounding areas.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Masters degree in Student Services or related field, or bachelor's degree and 2 years related experience.

Traveling alone within assigned geographic region and to South Carolina for student recruitment and professional development/ training events is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Background experience in admissions, public relations, or another student personnel area desired. Preference will be given to those who currently live in the existing geographic market and have knowledge of the local secondary schools.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Must relate well to people, have an engaging personality, and be able to speak with confidence in front of groups. Knowledge of secondary and post-secondary school systems desired. Must be able to read and evaluate academic credentials. Must be able to operate a personal computer. Must be able to make public presentations to groups, counsel individuals, and maintain confidentiality of student credentials. Will be required to organize special programs. Must be able to make public presentations before large groups of people. Must have strong writing skills.
