Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The APS Trainer (Training and Development Director I) position works as part of a team to deliver training to client partners and serves as subject matter expert on Adult Protective Services training topics.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Master's degree and 3 years training and development experience, or bachelor's degree and 5 years training and development experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Adult Protective Services.


Considerable knowledge of design and development of needs assessment, curriculum design, evaluation and training delivery methods. Excellent grammar and writing skills. Adult learning theory and application. Knowledge of relevant computer software. Ability to stimulate and facilitate individuals and groups in the learning process, to plan and manage projects and self-directed work groups, acts as team lead to others on staff when appropriate, can establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Advanced degree in social work, education, psychology, counseling, English, or related field. Specialized knowledge in content areas of child welfare, community development, victim services, elder/youth services, school social work, vocational rehabilitation, adolescent issues, juvenile justice, public health or disabilities and special needs.
