Position Information: UB High School Advisor-Come join a dynamic team of Academic Preparation professionals dedicated to creating the best possible experience for our student population! The Upward Bound (UB) Program is part of Office of TRIO programs and is committed to providing an inclusive environment that attracts a workforce which mirrors the diversity of the campus, which is ranked 4th in the nation as most diverse, and surrounding community. Within this exciting environment, rich with growth opportunities, you will be responsible for contributing to the overall project management of UB. We are looking for an individual with some experience advising high school students. Knowledge of higher education institutions and admission requirements is highly desirable. Applicants may be asked to provide a presentation as part of the interview process. This is a grant funded position. Position is subject to availability of continued grant funding.

Minimum Requirements: Basic knowledge and understanding of K-14 education.
Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with school district administrators, school counselors, principals, teachers, and community contacts.
Basic knowledge of high school graduation and college entrance requirements.
Basic knowledge working with a diverse student population, and sensitivity to culture, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation and socio-economic status.
Basic knowledge of academic programs, including curricula and admissions requirements at higher education institutions.
Basic knowledge of higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.), and the ability to explain procedures to youth, parents, and school representatives.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, plan, and help coordinate educational programs that meet specific needs for program participants, per federal grant objectives.

Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with diplomacy and tact.
