Business Development Manager Job Description

Position Overview:

The Business Development Manager position will be responsible for the retention and growth of the existing account base, as well as the development of new business within defined market segments.

The Business Development Manager position will support strategic initiatives in the following key areas: customer base growth strategies, new account segmentation, targeting, and growth strategies. Bid process support and coordination

The Business Development Manager will report to the Director of Business Development.

Job Responsibilities: -Customer Base Growth Development-

• Follow up communication and support with our existing customer base to increase sales, drive promotions, verify customer satisfaction,

provide pricing and or special quotes, and interface with internal stakeholders to resolve all customer issues in a timely manner.

• Develop and implement sales plan to target accounts for growth in line with overall business strategy, and achieve or exceed assigned goals.

• Drive sales through pre-call planning, post call analysis and follow up.

• Initiates sales process by building relationships, qualifying potential, scheduling appointments.

• Align and field travel with all key suppliers.

• Review customer purchasing histories to gain insights and opportunities for penetration and growth.

• Closes Sales by overcoming objections.

-New Customer Development-

• Align with marketing initiatives and strategies to target and develop new accounts within the prescribed segmentation.

• Develop and implement sales plan to target accounts for growth in line with overall business strategy, and achieve or exceed assigned goals.

• Prospect for new business within assigned territory.

• Align and travel with all key suppliers.

• Follow up on all leads generated from trade shows and conferences attended.

• Prepare quotes and proposals for customers in a timely fashion.

• Close new business by responding to all customer inquiries via, phone, fax, or email.

• Proactively communicate all new product and promotional launches.

-Other Essential -

• Contributes information to sales strategies by evaluating current product results; identifying needs to be filled; monitoring competitive

products; analyzing and relaying customer feedback.

• Attends National, Regional and Local trade shows as required.

• Follows up and tracks promotions to evaluate effectiveness.

Accountabilities and

Performance Measures:

• Maintains high customer satisfaction ratings that meet company standards.

• Achieves all assigned sales goals.

• Interacts and engages internal and external stakeholders as required.

• Is responsive and supportive to the needs of our customers, and internal stakeholders.

• Completes all assignments and administrative tasks in a timely fashion.

• Supports the Business Development and Marketing team as required.

• Completes required training and development objectives within the assigned time frame.

• Maintains and updates CRM tool as required.

Organizational

Alignment:

• Reports to the Director of Business Development

• Enlists the support of Operations Director, Marketing manager, Operations team, Business Development team, as needed. .

• Works closely with internal and supplier customer service representatives and marketing representatives to ensure customer satisfaction

and problem resolution.

Qualifications:

• Four Year College Degree from an accredited institution or Related Work Experience

• Excellent Communication Skills

• Excellent Organizational Skills

• Ability to work in a cross function environment.

• Highly Driven and Self Motivated.

• Computer proficient in Microsoft Office.

• Solid understanding of internal program and tools

***Territory includes TN,NC,SC,GA,AL,MS,FL

3-5 years distributor or other sales experience in the Pharmaceutical or Research Market

Chromatography background is a plus
