Position Title Assistant Professor or Instructor of Economics Position Number   Job Description Summary

Full-time economics faculty at East Georgia State College-Augusta, teaching 15 semester credit hours in the area of economics and/or online classes, day and/or evening. In addition to teaching, faculty are responsible for scholarly and professional development, service to the institution and community, academic advisement, and instructional assessment.

Major Duties   Knowledge Required by the Position

Candidates should be committed to the two-year college mission, with a primary interest in the teaching/learning process as related to the academic discipline of economics and the two-year college student. Commitment to excellent student advising is essential. Competence in electronic communications, as well as distance learning.

Complexity/Scope of Work

The purpose of this position is to provide instruction to students. Success in this position contributes to the provision of quality instruction for students.

Physical Demands

The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects. The work is typically performed in a classroom.

Minimum Qualifications

Masters degree with a minimum of eighteen graduate semester credit hours in economics required.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in appropriate discipline preferred.
