Position Summary

The Department of Social Work at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) invites applications and nominations for one 9-month, non-tenure, academic professional track (APT) Assistant Professor position. This position is available August 1, 2018. The Department, School, and University place a high value on community-engaged scholarship. The person in this position will have teaching responsibilities across both the BSW and the MSW Programs, depending on departmental needs. A strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, social justice, and student-centered education is essential for this position. We seek an individual with strong clinical experience in clinical practice with individuals, families, or groups. Experience and knowledge in integrated health care practice is a plus.

The successful candidate must have:

• A Master's Degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited school of social work.
• An active North Carolina Licensed Clinical Social Work [LCSW] credential with at least 5 years of post-LCSW clinical experience.
• Experience with evidence-based interventions, theory, and effective clinical practices.
• Successful or demonstrated potential for successful social work teaching in undergraduate and graduate social work education.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

The chosen candidate will:

• Assist in the design and updating of undergraduate and graduate SWK courses.
• Be prepared and/or willing to teach in multiple platforms (e.g., online/hybrid/face to face)
• Advise and mentor students.
• Work effectively/engage in collaborative scholarship with a culturally diverse department.
• Be an active citizen in the school and university, with partnering universities and the broader community, including partnering community agencies.
• Work collaboratively with other faculty and staff to market and promote the SWK Department.

APT faculty are fixed-term, non-tenure track positions that come with full UNCG Benefits. This is an especially exciting time for UNCG's Department of Social Work as we enter our forty-fifth year of partnership with the Department of Sociology and Social Work at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NCA&T), a historically black university (HBCU) located in Greensboro. Specifically, both the Joint Master of Social Work (JMSW) Program and the BSW Program with NCA&T, have enjoyed a forty-four-year-old field program partnership and twenty years in partnership with NCA&T in the JMSW program. UNCG's Department of Social Work has 300 BSW majors, 90 MSW students, and 15 full-time faculty.

UNCG's Department of Social Work has CSWE-accredited BSW and MSW programs and National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)-accredited BSW and MSW school social work licensure programs. The Department has external funding from the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA), National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other sources.
