St. Michael's Hospital's Department of Medicine is seeking a qualified full-time academic benign hematologist. The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. This position will support the current in- and out-patient demands in benign hematology in addition to supporting St. Michael's expanding thrombosis program. As well, the candidate will help lead the development of new innovative models of care, such as an anticoagulant stewardship service. The candidate will have an academic position description of clinician investigator or clinician teacher with expertise in thrombosis and transfusion medicine, and a proven academic record of clinical research and education within at least one of these areas. The expected start date of the position is January 1, 2018, or shortly thereafter.
The successful candidate will hold an MD degree and should have, or be eligible for, certification in Hematology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). The successful candidate will also have or be working towards a graduate degree relevant to clinical research. The successful candidate will report to the Head, Division of Hematology/Oncology at St. Michael's Hospital. The Division currently consists of 9 full time hematologists and oncologists, has an international reputation in clinical research, education and quality improvement, and a busy in- and out-patient service.
