Postdoctoral Scientist

University of Colorado School of Medicine - Department of Physiology

Position #: 00633059

The Bankston lab in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine seeks energetic and creative scientists to join our research group at the level of postdoctoral fellow. The lab is focused on the study of the structure, function, and physiology of ion channels. In particular, we are interested in understanding the mechanism of Acid-sensing ion channel (ASIC) gating along with the structural mechanisms of ASIC regulation by accessory proteins. We make extensive use of patch clamp electrophysiology, fluorescence microscopy, protein chemistry, and structural methodologies in our research and the ideal candidate would have some experience in one or more of these areas and an overall enthusiasm for ion channel structural biology. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to design and execute experiments in collaboration with the primary investigator. The job will include wet lab experimentation, data analysis, literature review, and reporting of results at conferences and in journals.

  • The ability to use and learn new software for data acquisition and analysis.
  • The ability to communicate well with the PI and fellow lab mates.
  • Self-motivated, creative problem solver that can work independently as well as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:
