The Barbara Davis Center has an opening for a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant at the Instructor level. The Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes (BDC) is a multi-disciplinary diabetes center located on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. The BDC is affiliated with the University of Colorado Denver's School of Medicine. This is a full-time (40 hours per week) Instructor position within the BDC's Pediatric Division. This is a 100% clinical position with no laboratory duties.

Job Summary:

The Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes at the University of Colorado at Denver is a multi-disciplinary diabetes center affiliated with Children's Hospital of Colorado as well as the University of Colorado, School of Medicine. The patient population is primarily children with type 1 diabetes, but also includes youth with type 2 diabetes. In addition to the clinical program, the Barbara Davis Center has a large clinical research program allowing many ongoing educational opportunities. This Instructor position is an at-will faculty appointment. This position will provide diabetes care to newly diagnosed and established children who have Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes. This appointment will involve approximately 100% clinical work.



Job Responsibilities:

The position serves as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant at the Instructor level. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
    Provide diabetes care to newly diagnosed and established children with type 1 and type 2 diabetes Diabetes Education and case management for children who have type 1 and type 2 diabetes Phone consultations with patients and other NP/PA/physicians in the community Determines appropriate options in resolving complicated inquiries and/or issues Contribute to new and ongoing diabetes clinical research protocols Computer charting/data entry Educate patient, families and extended families in diabetes management Maintain high standards of existing diabetes program

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must have or be able to obtain Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license to practice in Colorado.
  • Be able to speak Spanish is desirable
  • Combination of previous clinical experience in type 1 diabetes and with special interest and experience in diabetes care in children.
  • Will be expected to certify as a diabetes educator (CDE)
