Occupational Summary
Responsible to the Director of Research Operations for the day-to-day operations related to study conduct. Ensure that CRCs and designated research personnel are performing activities in accordance with good clinical practice, Duke Clinical Research standards (Good Clinical Practice-GCP), Institutional Policy and regulatory requirements using Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and appropriate monitoring.
Work Performed
Supervise clinical research staff in external units to create, implement, and ensure understanding and compliance with policies and guidance at the unit/departmental level related to professional guidelines and code of ethics. Manage clinical research staff and perform performance evaluations of Assistant Research Practice Managers using Human Resource procedures.

Recruit and hire CRCs in collaboration with other clinical research leaders.

Serve as a resource to clinical research staff to ensure the success of the DOCR research program. Provide significant contribution and influence upon research work, activities, or productivity across multiple groups. Assume leadership role in external professional organizations (e.g., ACRP, SOCRA) and at Duke.

Ensure that clinical research staff have the tools and knowledge to perform their assigned duties and ensure that training records and required certifications are available.

Act as an expert resource to multiple study teams with regard to liaising with sponsors, subcontractors, or vendors.

Ensure research staff are aware of subject recruitment resources, can identify barriers to enrollment, and implement of strategies to deal with issues.

Work with the School of Medicine finance managers to identify staffing requirements, clinical and logistical considerations.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 6 years of related experience, with at least five years in a research setting. ACRP or SOCRA preferred.

OR

Master's degree and 4 years of related experience, with at least three years in a research setting. ACRP or SOCRA preferred.

Education

Allied Health degree or Associates degree in Clinical Trials Research and 8 years of related experience, with at least five years in a research setting. ACRP or SOCRA preferred.
