The University Librarian manages the Wilkes Library and plans library development with appropriate university faculty and administrators. The University Librarian also makes recommendations to the Campus Deans, Regional and Senior Academic Leaders about Library and Learning Resources Center policies and procedures, collection development, and acquisitions.

  • Manages the Wilkes Library, Washington Campus.
  • Oversees the admission testing process.
  • Plans Library development with appropriate faculty and campus administrators.
  • Attends and conducts appropriate staff meetings.
  • Acquires materials for the University libraries.
  • Meets with the Library Advisory Committee to review library development.
  • Consults with Campus Deans and Directors regarding LRC services and collections.
  • Orders replacement copies for missing, lost or stolen materials.
  • Purchases required materials to support quarterly schedules.
  • Prepares annual report on Library activities.
  • Prepares, and submits for approval, annual Library budget.
  • Trains Learning Resource Center Managers and/or other LRC staff.
  • Attends professional meetings and represents the University as Librarian at appropriate outside activities.
  • Manages Library Services budget.
  • Serves on departmental and university committees as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Incumbent should have a broad educational background and a Master's degree in Library Science.
  • Terminal degree preferred.

  • None

Work Experience:
  • At least 3-5 years library experience in a senior level position

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Systematic thinker
  • Demonstrates exceptional ethics, and integrity, including a strong work ethic
  • Proficiency in using systems and reports
  • Proficiency in technology
  • Demonstrated knowledge of information literacy
  • Proficiency in cataloging
  • Must have strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
