Essential functions of this position:
To perform line function administrative and technical work to be the university expert on fire and life safety issues and a technical assistant to the emergency manager. Provide input to the assistant director for policy decisions in their area of expertise. These functions include program development and revision, program management and administration, provide service functions, conduct audits, inspections, training services and supervise work-study employee.
N.C. Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
High school diploma or equivalency and demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position:
Ability to work in stressful situations and utilize technology such as computers, gas detection meters, AV media equipment and portable radios
Must have a firm understanding of fire codes and fire prevention
Familiar with applicable building codes and industry standards such as NFPA standards
Must be comfortable enough to conduct training and have the skills to perform self assessment of programs
Preferred education, professional skills and experience:
Experience working in an Emergency Operations Center or Command Post environment preferred
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred
Certifications or licensure required to perform the essential functions of the position:
Recruitment Range: $31,000 - $35,500
NC Salary Grade Equivalency: 59
Hours Per Week: 1.0 (40 hours per week)
Months Per Year: 12 Months
Work Days: Monday - Friday
Work Hours: Varies but typically 11:00AM-8:00PM
