Executive Management Director
The Director for Statewide Advocacy will work under the supervision of the Associate Vice President for State Affairs. In this position, the Director will manage multiple competing priorities, multifaceted issues, diverse sets of stakeholders, and be able to communicate in clear, straightforward terms. This person must work well under pressure while maintaining a positive and collaborative attitude in a fast-paced team office environment. The Director will need to develop and manage strong relationships within the university and among the statewide advocacy network. An important segment of this position will involve data analysis and the development of conclusions and recommendations. The preferred candidate will have demonstrated experience in grasstops and grassroots advocacy organization.
More than five years’ experience working on statewide advocacy networks and/or political campaigns
- At least three-five years’ experience with campaign model databases and networks of advocates
- At least five years’ experience using personal computers and basic software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel,PowerPoint, and Outlook
Demonstrated experience in effective written and verbal communication, report writing, data analysis, and strategic planning
Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
Ability to travel throughout the state of Michigan to meet with community leaders, businesses, and influential groups to promote statewide advocacy for the university
