This recruitment will be used to establish a pool of candidates for current and future hourly intermittent, temporary appointments. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Work schedule to be arranged.
Computer-Aided Transcribers provide communication access services to consumers that are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing, and to other persons with disabilities, by creating realtime meaning-for-meaning text of spoken English displayed on a computer screen visible to the consumer. Transcribers may also facilitate communication by voicing questions or comments that the consumer has entered into the computer system.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $40.00 per hour. CSU Classification Salary Range: $16.42 - $150.96 per hour. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
Familiarity with academic higher education: attendance at a post-secondary institution may be necessary to understand and provide accurate transcriptions of the language and vocabulary used in the various academic, instructional, and/or administrative situations. Typically, three to six months of related experience, preferably in a higher education setting, are necessary to meet the requirements of most transcribing assignments.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
- Verification of formal training in TypeWell, C-Print or other computer-aided transcription system.
- Attendance at a post-secondary institution.
