Summary of Position:
The Department of Psychology invites applications for a tenure-track appointment as an Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychology with a research focus related to substance use.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D.in Clinical Psychology prior to August 2018. Must be eligible for licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Psychologist and Health Services Provider.
As part of the requirements for tenure, applicants must obtain NC licensure as a Licensed Psychologist and Health Services Provider and participate in the PhD program as a core-faculty member. Experience in Substance Abuse treatment is strongly preferred. Supervision of clinical graduate students is required. The position will begin in August, 2018. All applicants should show evidence of a strong independent research program, a commitment to working with students from diverse backgrounds, and excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching and clinical supervision. Although teaching, clinical supervision, and research are the primary responsibilities, service is also expected.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The department has 33 full-time faculty members and serves 600 undergraduate and 65 graduate majors. The Clinical PhD program plans to seek APA accreditation. The department is establishing a new clinical psychology training facility and candidates will be expected to provided supervision.The program emphasizes the integration of science and practice and values both basic and applied research on human behavior across the life span.
