The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor seeks a Director of Development.

JOB DUTIES:  Develops and manages a portfolio of individuals with a gift capacity ranging from at least $5,000 to $100,000 or more. Works with Development team to craft successful fundraising strategies for major & principal gift development.



  1. Bachelor’s degree
  2. A minimum of:
    1. five (5) years of increasingly successful experience in fundraising with at least two (2) years in individual major gifts fundraising,


    2. five (5) years of successful experience in sales, marketing, business development, financial planning, or equivalent.
  3. Proven and measurable track record of successful face-to-face interactions with prospective donors, clients, and/or customers.
  4. Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
  5. Excellent writing skills including letters and proposals.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office for Windows applications (word processing, database, spreadsheet, e-mail, presentation graphics, etc.).
  7. Must possess exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills.
  8. Must be available for extensive travel and variable schedules, including early morning meetings, evening engagements, and occasional weekend obligations.
  9. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  10. Must possess a current and valid Texas driver’s license and be insurable under UMHB auto coverage.


  1. Experience in higher education fundraising is preferred.  UMHB alumni status is strongly preferred.
  2. Experience with fundraising software.
  3. Experience in leading major gift development in a capital campaign or special project and successful record of achieving campaign/project goals.
  4. Experience in developing a strategic plan for soliciting and securing gifts from private sources or the equivalent in the corporate environment.
  5. Knowledge and skill in planned gift development and/or estate and financial planning.
