Monthly Salary Range: $3,536.28 - $4,513.29 (Starting Salary $3,536.28)
Hours/Days to be worked: 40 hours a week

DEFINITION:
Under direction, to facilitate instruction in Dental Laboratory by preparing or supervising the preparation of demonstration materials and the distribution and control of study materials and equipment and to do related work as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
  • Performs moderately complex word processing tasks (Microsoft Word or as appropriate).
  • Tracks budget expenditures and creates purchase orders.
  • Conforms with infections control policies and procedures as outlined by the NADL.
  • Ensures that safety checks of the laboratory are performed prior to lunch breaks and the end of the day (to be completed after the last student departs).
  • Performs preventive maintenance on equipment as necessary or assist in contacting the appropriate agency or vendor.
  • Prepare equipment and supplies as necessary for day-today requirements.
  • Ensures custodial services and supplies have been provided for the classroom.
  • Ensures all audiovisual equipment is properly functioning and replacement items are in stock.
  • Corrects and grades keyable written quizzes and exams.
  • Assists in identifying hazardous equipment, materials and non-participant students with day-to-day cleaning responsibilities.
  • Assists in scheduling internships at outside labs.
  • Schedules national board examinations each year.
  • Assists in the recruitment and evaluation of potential incoming students, including making presentations at high schools and career days.
  • Coordinates information between Division Dean and Dental Departments.
  • At the request of a supervisor, shall perform a variety of unscheduled duties normally and traditionally performed by a Department Laboratory Technician II.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Certification from a two year accredited Dental Laboratory Technician program or equivalent; AND
  • One year of related experience.

    KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
    KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • Dental laboratory equipment, materials, supplies, and procedures appropriate to assigned area;
  • Elementary stock control methods; and
  • Laboratory safety and fire prevention.

    ABILITY TO:
  • Instruct students;
  • Plan and organize workload so that laboratory materials are available and set up at appropriate times;
  • Keep records and carry out complex oral and written instructions;
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and instructors; and
  • Work with students in a multiethnic environment.
