Responsibilities:

The division of Information Technology Services is currently seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Systems Administrator. The Systems Administrator will participate in system design, implementation and contribute to the day to day operational support of our enterprise-wide, server environment along with associated business continuity and disaster recovery environments. This complex environment includes a tiered, heterogeneous infrastructure that includes storage and backup architectures, UNIX and/or Microsoft server architectures; virtualization technology for servers and desktops; and finally enterprise messaging and collaboration systems. These systems are across multiple date centers. The Systems Administrator will also be expected to lead through a team environment the system administrators with any upgrades or maintenance requirements for any of the enterprise server environments. The role is responsible for supporting customer initiatives, either through leading a team or in support of a team ensuring the execution of tasks within the team, developing applicable deliverables within assigned timeframes and supporting existing infrastructure. Perform system performance analyses and security audits, recommend reconfigurations to proactively eliminate future issues, and provide expert guidance and mentorship to server administrators on interoperation of servers, storage, backups, communication and networks across multiple data centers. Maintain servers related to the administration of the enterprise infrastructure. Research industry standard and cutting-edge technologies; analyze and assess applicability to our business functions.

To ensure that essential services are provided to the university community, the employee will be required to work outside their regular working hours as needed. Some travel is required.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have 3-4 years systems administration experience in administering VMware and Unix Server based systems. A Bachelor’s degree in Math, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but not required. Core competencies include experience with Powershell and other scripting experience (Perl/shell/C/C++). Candidate must have proven problem solving skills and technical skills, a “can do” attitude and the ability to work through challenging situations.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are a necessity. Must have the ability to interact with customers. Demonstrated continued professional growth and development. Candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects and activities as both a lead and team member. Must show demonstrated initiative to research new technologies and must have the ability to interact with customers. Candidate must have demonstrated continued professional growth and development.

Experience with Virtual Desktops and applications is a plus, as is Cloud computing (to include VCloud Automation Center). Knowledge of enterprise networking is desired. The candidate should also be knowledgeable in NAS and SAN infrastructures.

Also a plus is EMC SAN/NAS storage, data backup and recovery infrastructure based on IBM AIX and Tivoli TSM, DELL/EMC DDXXX deduplicated tapeless backup, UNIX (RedHat Linux, CentOS, IBM AIX) server infrastructure, and VMware VSphere virtualization infrastructure,

Experience with any of the following is desired but not required: Microsoft server infrastructure, Microsoft Exchange/Outlook and OCS messaging / unified communication infrastructure. Experience with TCP/IP networking, security administration, RDBMSs.Experience with administering Windows Server based systems. Experience with Active Directory (Multi-Site), DNS, Group Policy, DFS, WSUS, Printing and Windows Clustering. SCOM and SCCM experience Microsoft Exchange 2010, SharePoint 2010, Lync 2010, and SQL experience. Office 365 experience (to include Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) and DirSync) and Microsoft MCITP certification.
