Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, Higher Education beginning August 2018
The University of Kansas, School of Education is seeking a tenure track Assistant Professor with a specialization in one or more of the following: student development, impact of college on students, higher education law, leadership, and/or student affairs, depending on background and interest. We encourage applications from candidates who can teach qualitative research methods and who have some full-time administrative experience. The successful candidate will teach and advise master's and doctoral students in both face-to-face and hybrid formats; develop a program of research related to their area of expertise; and engage in service activities within the University and professional community. Required qualifications: 1) An earned doctorate (by 8/18/2018) in higher education or a related field; 2) demonstrated commitment to and potential for effective teaching; 3) Demonstrated potential to conduct a productive program of research in one or more of the following areas: college student development, impact of college on students, leadership, higher education law, or student affairs administration; 4) evidence of commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The University of Kansas is a major educational and research institution with 29,000 students on five campuses, 2,600 faculty members, and service centers throughout the state. The main campus is in Lawrence, a vibrant community of more than 90,000 that is just 40 miles west of Greater Kansas City and 20 miles from the state capital. It has also committed itself to expanding its innovative research and commercialization programs.
The position is a 9-month tenure track appointment; summer teaching is possible. Review of applicants will begin on November 1, 2017. The search will remain open until filled.
