Interim Athletic Trainer

Description:
The Interim Athletic Trainer will provide quality medical care to student-athletes at Emerson College. The athletic trainer will be required to asses athletic injuries, cover practices and games as assigned, design and supervise rehabilitation plans for athletic injuries, refer athletes to the appropriate medical facility when necessary and maintain accurate medical records for injuries, treatment, rehabilitation and physician referrals. This individual will need to be able to work closely with the team physician, coaches and athletics administration. This individual may also have the opportunity to provide educational opportunities and clinical supervision to athletic training students in Boston University's CAATE approved ATEP program. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining inventory of athletic training supplies, acquiring bids for supplies and other duties as assigned.

Campus Location: Boston Campus

Required Knowledge:
Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE accredited program, current BOC certification, and Commonwealth of Massachusetts licensure are required. This individual also must be certified in Emergency Cardiac Care.

Preferred/Desirable Knowledge:
Master’s Degree is preferred.

Required Prior Work Experience:
3-5 years of collegiate work experience as a certified and licensed athletic trainer

Job Duties:
  • Provide medical care coverage for all varsity teams. Design and supervise rehabilitation programs for athletic injuries and refer the athlete to the appropriate medical facilities when necessary. Develops plans for providing Athletic Training Coverage at all intercollegiate athletic events.
  • Maintain accurate medical records for injuries, treatment, rehabilitation, and physician referrals.
  • Assist with administration of the athletic training area within athletics to potentially include per diem and student oversight, assist with scheduling, ordering of supplies, managing of insurance claims among other administrative duties.
  • Assist with budgeting, ordering, and maintaining inventory of athletic training supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned
