Senior Grants Administrator - Morgridge College Of Education
The role of the Senior Grants Administrator is to support to the college in the development and management of grants, gifts, and contracts. Additionally, this position is responsible for advancing the sponsored research agenda of the college, departments, and individual faculty members by providing ongoing support and guidance directly and through engaging outside resources.
- Develop templates and content boilerplate for grants that will be universally used by principal investigators.
- Keep abreast of the grant opportunities and distribute information to department chairs. Perform weekly searches for new opportunities. Understand the funding priorities of key sources of financial support including local, state, and federal agencies; and foundations and philanthropies.
- Review eligibility guidelines and match opportunities to faculty and programs. Encourage the growth of submissions for the college. Distribute intelligence regarding funding priorities to appropriate faculty and staff to shape planning efforts.
- Establish effective proposal development teams and schedules, work with PI to select a winning strategy, articulate a scope of work, and develop an appropriate and defensible budget. Provide editorial support to final product. Review and ensure that each proposal meets the college, University and funders guidelines.
- Provide mentorship to junior faculty regarding sponsored research. Increase the effectiveness of MCEs efforts by applying lessons learned, analyzing and reporting on successful and unsuccessful proposal submissions, and distributing findings.
Approval and Submission
- Assist in shepherding each proposal through the university approval process.
- Download packets and maintain throughout development.
- Work with PIs to request modifications to funded grants and contracts.
- Provide ORSP with all submissions materials within established deadlines. Ensure all approvals are met.
- When appropriate, submit grant to funding agency.
Reporting and Other
- Develop and distribute a grant office update on a monthly basis.
- Provide editorial support for each grant and contract report submitted by the college.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- 2-3 years of experience with project management.
- At least 3 years' business development experience, including proposal preparation.
- Proven experience with grant submission management, writing, and development.
- Experience working with or in higher education or related field.
- Experience creating and developing a grant budget, and familiarity with the SF-424 budget form.
- Familiarity with standard electronic systems for proposal submission, such as NSF, FastLane, IES Constella, and grants.gov
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; specifically, the ability to analyze technical requirements, synthesize information, write persuasively, and respond effectively to technical requirements.
- Master's Degree in education, business administration, or related field.
- Proven budgetary development and responsibility.
- Pre and/or Post grant management.
- Existing relationships in key agencies or demonstrated ability to build such relationships.
- Substantial knowledge and thorough understanding of current issues in education.
- Recent work with NIH, IES, ED, and private foundations.
