Job Summary

Soccer Without Borders (SWB) is a non-profit organization that uses soccer as a vehicle for positive change, providing newcomer refugee, asylee and immigrant youth with a toolkit to overcome obstacles to growth, inclusion, and personal success.

SWB works with middle and high school students during the school year, and elementary, middle, and high school students in the summer months. Regular SWB programming integrates English Language Development, civic engagement, educational support, cultural exchange, and team building into the three sessions per week throughout the course of each team's season. In addition, SWB partners interested SWB families with families from the greater Greeley community, who then share time together growing in relationship and exchanging their livelihoods, helping each other grow in their knowledge and love for their community.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Girls' Coach will be primarily responsible for serving the Middle School Girls' team in all practices, matches, and other programming under the leadership of the Girls Program Coordinator and coaches. Additionally, she may be asked to help with the High School Girls' programming throughout the season.

1. Direct Service (75%):
• Practice Planning & Facilitation
• Receiving volunteer feedback, and directing cases of concern to head coach
• Game Preparation (including transportation coordination with head coach)
• Season Planning (using SWB Complete Season Checklist)
• Player Recruitment/Retention
• Player Evaluation/Goal Setting/Check-In Facilitation
2. Program Support (25%):
• Timely Monitoring & Reporting (Attendance, Reporting & coordination with SWB Coordinator, Academic Monitoring when necessary, etc.)
• Student & Family Engagement (including home visits when necessary)
• Social Media (providing material for communications, stories, photos, videos, etc.)
• Other projects as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

• Self-starter, entrepreneurial individual able to take the initiative and be a creative problem solver
• Experience working with youth, coaching soccer and able to plan/adapt practice sessions according to age and ability.
• Dedicated to creating an inclusive atmosphere for all participants, communicating and implementing team rules and positive culture, and showing an active interest in getting to know all program youth and their families.
• Energetic, dynamic, engaging and creative as a leader.
• Willing to be flexible as plans change.
• Interest in working with a group of volunteer assistant coaches and comfortable delegating tasks.
• Commitment to SWB values and SWB Greeley program priorities.
