Job Summary

Under leadership of the Adult Basic Education Resource Center Coordinator the Facilitator will be responsible for teaching basic skills to students with varying academic levels while integrating GED and Accuplacer skills. Help students meet academic goals and prepare them to take and successfully pass the GED and/or the Accuplacer exams. Administer and score Work Keys tests and GED pretests.

1. Instruct students on material needed in order to earn his/her GED. Provide GED information to all individuals via phone, email, or in person on all options available to GED students.

2. Help students prepare and study for GED and Accuplacer exams. Assess student's readiness to take exams.

3. Teach basic skills encompassing math, science, English, and Literature. Tutor students on an individual basis.

4. Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into daily instruction and communicate them for all learning activities. Observe and evaluate student's performance.

5. Utilize various curriculum resources and public library resources.

6. Administer pre-test GED assessments and WorkKeys assessments to students.

7. Ensure the integrity of all tests and their administration.

8. Assist with the administrative aspects of testing, including but not limited to: data collection, file management, answering phones, and making appointments for students needing accommodations.

9. Comply with all jurisdictional policies and procedures as set forth within the testing guidelines.

10. Manage student behavior according to Aims Community College Policies and Procedures.

11. Work with the Adult Basic Education Resource Center Coordinator to ensure initiatives are being met.

12. Develop professional relationships with other agencies and programs.

13. Facilitate adult basic education workshops.

14. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
2. Bachelor's Degree in Education, Behavioral Science, Psychology or related fields.
3. Two (2) years of experience working with targeted populations. Familiarity with transitional programming (employment/college/vocational training).
4. Experience in administering various types of tests, such as academic testing, and/or placement testing.
5. Capable of prioritizing multiple tasks or requests while handling numerous interruptions.
6. Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators.
7. Experience with and technological proficiency in Windows-based PC's, Microsoft Office, and other software products.
8. Excellent customer service skills.
9. Ability to work as a team member.
10. Ability to handle confidential tasks and materials with discretion following FERPA guidelines.
11. Able to work a flexible schedule to include evenings.
12. Experience in workshop facilitation.
13. Experience using differentiation in the classroom.
14. Instructional skills using a variety of technology implementation.
15. Ability to teach a variety of core subjects.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in Education, Behavioral Science, Psychology or related fields. Current Colorado Secondary Teaching License. Bilingual.

Work Hours
25-hours per week Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (varies) Schedule may vary to include possible evenings.
