Job Summary

1. Clean geology lab equipment from previous weeks use.
2. Prep equipment for this weeks labs.
3. Identify rock and mineral specimens for this weeks display.
4. Make labels with descriptions for mineral and rock specimens above.
5. Replace and organize teaching boxes for mineral specimens each week.
6. Search map library for appropriate maps to be used in lab each week.
7. Refold and file maps after labs are finished each week.
8. Set up stream tables with sand, timers, hoses, spacers, and buckets for stream labs.
9. Help with outside projects, setting up rock scenarios for lab students to interpret.
10. Check inventory for lab exercises and put together order of supplies needed.
11. Maintain cabinets in labs to be ready and organized for all geology equipment.
12. Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications include completion of the Physical Geology Course with the ability to classify rocks and identify minerals for displays to be used for learning at Aims Community College. The applicant must be able to lift 50 lbs and work outside when needed. The student should have neat penmanship and the ability to utilize computer programs to make labels. Other duties might include some organizing and filing of laboratory supplies and paperwork.


Work Hours
Hours may vary but applicant should be able to work 15-20 hours per week.
