Job Summary/Basic Function

Texas A&M University-Central Texas, an upper level university, seeks a well-qualified nurse educator for the newly formed RN to BSN online program. This Director of the Nursing Program possesses excellent web-based teaching skills, a commitment to service learning and scholarship, outstanding written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, and the highest standards of personal and professional integrity and credibility.

The position is 12-month, tenure-track and has the faculty rank of Assistant Professor.

The University is a new member of the Texas A&M System and supported by the local community, as well as, the State of Texas.

The Director has the opportunity to expand the RN to BSN program and develop a graduate program for the future.

Web-based teaching/learning support is available for faculty and students.

Minimum Education/Experience/Skills

Masters of Science in Nursing
License to practice nursing in Texas

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills

Doctorate in Nursing or related field
Graduate Certificate in Nursing Education
NLN Certification for Nurse Educators (CNE)
2 years of teaching experience at the baccalaureate level
2 years' experience in a leadership role
Experience in distance education and technology enhanced learning

Job Duties

Percent of total time 50% Responsibility / Duty

Teaching: 21 semester hours/academic year including the summer. Teaches a variety of nursing web-based courses, based on expertise.

Percent of total time 30% Responsibility / Duty

Service: Provides academic advising for students interested in the BSN completion program. Serves on nursing faculty committees, as well as, university committees as assigned by the Provost. Attends community college and hospital career events as needed to recruit for the program. Attends community college advisory board meetings, as needed. Participates in service-learning projects, as they become available.

Percent of total time 20% Responsibility / Duty

Scholarship: Attends and/or presents at conferences to maintain credentials and increase knowledge in teaching and area of expertise. Participates in research described in the university tenure track criteria.
