Movement Science -Sport Management (Assistant Professor) - College of Liberal Arts & Science
Required Qualifications and Education:
Qualified applicants will possess a doctorate in Sport Management or a closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered with doctorate completed by August 31, 2018. The successful candidate must demonstrate effectiveness in teaching at the university level. Candidates must have a clear plan for their scholarship/research agenda. Individuals who can contribute to the Movement Science Department through their teaching, scholarship, and service as well as to the diversity and excellence of the GVSU community are urged to apply.
Preferred Qualifications and Education:
Practical experience in sport management. Experience teaching in sport management. Preference will be given to applicants who can contribute to the undergraduate curriculum in one or more of the following areas: sport and facility management; sales and consumer behavior; sport law and ethics; community engagement supervision; social responsibility in sport. A clear research and service agenda suitable to a teaching intensive, student-centered university is preferred.
Responsibilities – Essential Functions:
Responsibilities include a 9 credit hour teaching load each semester. Conduct scholarly work in a collaborative manner with peers and students. Advise and mentor students on academic and professional requirements. Contribute to the development of the Department’s curriculum. Provide service to the Department, College, and University, and engage in professional and public service activities, including establishing partnerships with sport organizations within the west Michigan region.
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications
