I. JOB OVERVIEW
Job Description Summary:
The Office of Graduate Admissions and Student Services (OGA) at the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) provides comprehensive information about SEAS graduate programs and admissions procedures to prospective domestic and international graduate students and provides professional advising services to the current SEAS graduate student body.
Reporting to the Director of Graduate Admissions & Enrollment Management, the Assistant Director of Marketing & Recruiting does not have any direct reports but may train and supervise temporary staff and graduate program assistants.
The primary focus of this position is to create and manage a comprehensive marketing strategy that supports graduate recruitment, student services and career services efforts. This includes a heavy web and social media presence and managing the website for the Office of Graduate Admissions & Student Services and development of various marketing deliverables.
The individual in this position will serve as one of the main recruiters for the Office of Graduate Admissions & Student Services. The position requires heavy travel (at least 25%) and will represent the School at various recruitment events around the country and abroad.
Manages the Office of Graduate Admissions & Student Services website along with regularly updating all social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Weibo, etc).
Creates and maintains all digital and print marketing collateral for SEAS graduate programs.
Liaise with GW Marketing & Creative Services and external vendors to facilitate advertising and ad campaigns for student recruitment.
Develop monthly newsletters for current students as well as monthly newsletters from the Office of Graduate & Student Services.
Responsible for recruiting activities such as attending graduate school fairs, campus visits and professional association conferences.
Assists with the operational functions of the admissions process (responding to applicant inquiries on a daily basis via email and phone) and sits on the team's Admissions Committee, which reviews applications and make admissions recommendations to the faculty.
Develops and maintains relationships with SEAS academic departments, University offices and external organizations that market graduate programs. This includes but is not limited to the GW Marketing & Creative Services, external vendors and other GW school based graduate admissions offices.
Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. The Assistant Director of Marketing & Recruiting is responsible for both detail-oriented tasks as well as big picture thinking (e.g. best practices for marketing to diverse audiences). The individual in this position must be able to work in both capacities using skills in strategic thinking, prioritization, and project management while working under pressure toward hard deadlines and managing multiple priorities.
Experience working with one or more of the following functional areas: marketing, communications, admissions, higher-education.
Familiarity with data management tools such as TargetX.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Google applications.
Experience with website management.
