Student Activities is a member of the Division of Student Affairs, within the engagement portfolio of the Senior Associate Dean of Students. The department provides a variety of programs and services intended to engage and develop students. Through series and individual programs, students are connected to the city of Philadelphia and campus community. Deeper involvement and development can be experienced through student organizations, fraternity and sorority life, Temple Student Government, Main Campus Program Board, and the Service Immersion Program. Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean of Students, the Director of Student Activities will provide strategic direction for the department in line with the strategic plan for the Division of Student Affairs. The Director will oversee various department budgets, assessment projects, and hiring practices. The incumbent will provide direct supervision to two Assistant Directors and an Administrative Assistant. This supervision includes professional development, performance evaluations, and support for daily work. Serves as the advisor for Temple Student Government and as a campus leader for inclusive and creative engagement opportunities, by creating and maintaining a variety of partnerships across campus. Contributes to program planning and execution, specifically for major events such as Welcome Week and a major annual event each spring. The position requires someone who will bring not only expertise in student engagement and development, but also a positive demeanor and strong work ethic. Serves on various committees across the University. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience:
Master's degree with concentration in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or related field and a minimum of five years of relevant experience. Demonstrated experience in student development, assessment, and leadership training, and with fraternity/sorority life and large event planning and execution. Experience with Campus Labs platforms. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills and Abilities:
*Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
*Demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize diverse tasks in a fast paced environment.
*Strong verbal and written communication skills.
*Demonstrated leadership skills in departmental planning, program and service delivery, and assessment and evaluation.
*Demonstrated ability to create and cultivate collaborative working relationships with students, faculty, staff, parents and other university constituencies.
*Strong interpersonal skills, along with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations of students, parents, faculty, and staff.
*Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends (when needed).
*Ability to organize multiple projects.
