Nature of Work

The Intermediate Business Systems Analyst (BSA) is an analytically and technically astute individual responsible for performing intermediate academic/business unit assessments/evaluations of IT systems and processes that support the mission of academic/business units. This position serves as a liaison among stakeholders and manages the requirements development process through the elicitation, analysis, specification and verification of requirements for IT systems and services in support of organizational goals. Interprets business needs and translates them into enterprise and solution requirements. Utilizes broad IT knowledge and business knowledge to support business analysis for IT solutions which address academic/business needs. Validates that solutions meet academic/business needs. Ensures that IT solutions reflect the functionality necessary to address academic/business unit goals and objectives. Traces business requirements through to test plans and cases, reducing time to fix issues and identify anomalies. Validates requirements with all stakeholders. Complies with and upholds organizational standards. Serves as cross-ITS facilitator for problem management issues associated with systems and services associated with academic/business units.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Management Information System, Technology, Business Administration or related field; or equivalent work experience.
Five years of varying internal/external IT experience including working with various academic/business units outside of IT environment. Experience working with higher education ERP systems desirable
Experience conducting multiple Systems Support and process analysis
Ability to work autonomously and communicate with academic/business units and IT staff
Must have strong customer service skills including working with executive leadership. 
Strong understanding of business analysis principles and practices as well as standard Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
Strong verbal and written communications skills and effectiveness and comfort level with presentations to multiple levels of an organization.
Must be able to identify and recommend process improvements and document using Business Process Management/Modeling techniques
Ability to process and blend multiple disciplines (i.e. technical, financial, operational, etc.) to provide high-level consultations and recommendations to senior management and campus stakeholders
Must be able to communicate in technical terms with multiple IT groups.
Must have ability to write advanced SQL statements for reporting and scripting for application support

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Management Information System, Technology, Business Administration or related field. Experience working with higher education ERPsystems desirable
Experience with managing projects
CBAP or equivalent business analyst certification preferred

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Must be able to traverse to locations across large campus in a timely manner; 
This position is expected to comply with the University’s standard working hours. In addition, this position must be available outside of normal working hours, including nights and weekends, to complete routine system maintenance, or respond to emergency system outages.
