The Jess and Mildred Fisher College of Science and Mathematics invites applications for two positions in the Department of Mathematics beginning August 2018. One position is for a tenure-track, 10-month Assistant Professor. The second position is for a tenured/tenure-track 10-month Assistant/Associate/Professor, depending on qualifications. To be considered for a tenured appointment, the applicant must present a documented record of leadership in research and excellence in teaching commensurate with receiving tenure.
PhD (or equivalent) in mathematics, applied mathematics, or statistics by August 2018. The department has identified the following areas of need: geometry/topology, logic, number theory, actuarial science & risk management, numerical analysis/PDEs, and statistics. Outstanding candidates in other mathematical fields matching faculty research interests will be given full consideration.
The standard instructional workload is seven to eight (7-8) course units. Research active faculty may request to replace one course unit with their research activity. Faculty will be assigned an instructional workload of six (6) course units per academic year for the first year. A strong commitment to excellence in teaching mathematics at all levels is essential. The successful candidate will establish a productive research program with an interest in research with undergraduate students, and show a willingness to pursue external funding opportunities.
