Director of Alumni and Constituent Engagement

Saybrook University is seeking a Director of Alumni and Constituent Engagement to join the Office of the President.

Under the direction of the President and in collaboration with the senior leadership, the Director of Alumni and Constituent Engagement is responsible for engaging alumni and university constituents (including potential donors, community members, friends of the university, businesses and organizations) for the purpose of cultivating relationships and outreach activities that advance the university's outreach and philanthropic goals.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Strategic planning and launching of alumni events, communications, and other activities with the President and other university leadership.
  • Manage the university alumni database.
  • Lead the annual appeal campaign for alumni and friends of the university.
  • Identify and connect president with philanthropic and networking opportunities with particular focus in the Bay Area and Seattle-Tacoma regions, focusing on individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations, etc.
  • Plan and coordinate fundraising engagement and events involving trustees, alumni, donors, faculty, staff, community members and organizations.
  • Establish relationships with foundations and other granting agencies, investigating potential funding and relationship opportunities.
  • Coordinate contracting and/or partnering with grant writers to facilitate grant opportunities.
  • Working in collaboration with the executive assistant, direct/coordinate Board activities and serve as key liaison to the Board of Trustees.


Position Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
  • Experience working in alumni engagement and development
  • Proven track record of successful event management experience
  • Exemplary work ethic
  • Evening and weekend work required
  • Raiser's Edge experience a plus
  • Capability to cultivate relationships with multiple constituency groups
