Degree and Area of Specialization:
Doctorate of Nursing Practice, Masters in Nursing, or Nurse Practitioner
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Minimum of one year of experience in a mental health setting or three years of experience in Family Practice, Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, or Internal Medicine.
Experience working with a young adult patient population or in a college health or mental health setting preferred.
License or certificate:
Must be licensed or license eligible in the state of Wisconsin to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber and must possess a DEA license.
The Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber provides routine and emergent psychiatric care to University of Wisconsin-Madison students. This includes performing a comprehensive mental health history and diagnostic interview, ordering and interpreting diagnostic testing, and making therapeutic decisions including prescribing medications within the scope of state licensure. Collaborates with and provides consultation to other treatment providers including mental health and medical providers. Monitors patient outcomes and initiates changes in treatment plan based on patient response. The provider must demonstrate a commitment to multiculturalism and serving underrepresented populations, follow agency policies and procedures consistent with state mental health statutes, ethical guidelines, best practices, HIPAA, and FERPA, and maintain accurate and timely documentation for all clinical interactions and consultations. Duties will be performed under the supervision of the Director of Psychiatry. The Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber maintains a collaborative relationship with UHS Staff Psychiatrists.
Please note: Start date will be no earlier than the Anticipated Start Date noted, but may be later. Salary posted is the minimum. Experience will be considered.
